It does look cool. I think, for me, it's partly because it makes you focus on the basics: he's wearing the traditional kimono- which you kinda forget what with Mayuri's crazy look. And their respective size and shape is captured, making you think in terms of perspective- maybe placing them in the real world more effectively, sort of.

I dunno, but it does make them more real, in a crazy kind of way. Since it makes you think about them differently...or something.
